3) PGA Tour wants to add a fifth major
An old debate has been renewed in the golf world this week: should the Players Championship, which teed off this morning, be elevated to golf’s fifth major event?
- Proponents say the Players already has bona fides like a $25M purse—bigger than any major—arguably the most competitive field in golf, and a demanding but iconic course in TPC Sawgrass.
- But opponents of the move cite the tradition of four majors, and note the record-keeping dilemma of adding a fifth major (would Jack Nicklaus’ major total retroactively move from 18 → 21?)

4) Celeb owners celebrate five years of Wrexham
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac are celebrating the fifth anniversary of their purchasing the Welsh soccer club by doing live commentary for Wrexham AFC’s match against Swansea tomorrow (3 pm CT).
- The Red Dragons have won an unprecedented three consecutive promotions since 2023, and are now one step below the Premier League.
- They’re currently in playoff position in the second-tier EFL Championship, and looking to become one of three teams to move up to the Premier League next season.

5) Aaron Judge card sells for record $5.2M
A one-of-one signed baseball card of Aaron Judge from 2013 sold for $5.2M on Fanatics’ online marketplace, the company announced this morning.
- The same Judge card was last sold in 2022 for a much lower price of $324K.
- The recent sale represents the highest price ever paid for a modern-day baseball card, and the seventh-most-expensive sports card sale ever, per Card Ladder.
- But it could soon be eclipsed by a one-of-a-kind autographed card of Judge and Shohei Ohtani from 2025, which recently hit the auction block with bidding up to $1.2M—and over a week to go.
