1) Rays, Brewers, Dodgers advance to Championship Series

Tampa Bay completed a 3-game sweep of New York with a 4-3 win last night, after Yankees 2B Anthony Volpe’s would-be tying 2-run HR was turned into a double because of fan interference.

  • Meanwhile, Milwaukee eliminated the San Diego Padres with a 3-1 win in Game 4, advancing to the NLCS and snapping a 12-game road playoff losing streak.
  • They’ll face the LA Dodgers, who return to the NLCS for a 3rd straight year after beating the Braves 4-1 in Game 4.
  • In the final Divisional series, the Guardians (1-2) beat the White Sox (2-1) to force a Game 4 tonight at 7pm CT.

2) Eagles trade Jurgens, losing another O-lineman

Philadelphia traded 2x Pro Bowl C/G Cam Jurgens and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Baltimore Ravens yesterday in exchange for a 2028 2nd-round pick and 2027 5th-rounder.

  • The Eagles are now down 3 starting offensive lineman from opening day, after Landon Dickerson was placed on IR last month and Lane Johnson suddenly retired on Tuesday.
  • Still, GM Howie Roseman says the Eagles (2-2) are "trying to win this year" despite also dealing with injuries to RB Saquon Barkley and WR DeVonta Smith.

3) National Women's Soccer League isn't done growing

NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman revealed yesterday that the league plans to expand to 20 teams in the near future, up from its current 16 clubs (and just 10 in 2021).

  • The NWSL is already set to add Atlanta and Columbus in 2028—for record expansion fees of $165M and $205M, respectively—bringing its total to 18 teams.
  • Berman also emphasized that future expansion must account for player workloads, particularly with FIFA's inaugural 19-team Women's Club World Cup scheduled for January 2028, just 6 months after the Women's World Cup in Brazil.
