BREAKING: The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly trading star F Jaren Jackson Jr. to the Utah Jazz in an eight-player deal involving three future Utah first-round picks.
1) Clippers in “advanced” talks to trade G James Harden
News broke overnight that the Los Angeles Clippers and their star guard are exploring a trade ahead of Thursday’s deadline.
- The Clippers have held “advanced discussions” with the Cavaliers about swapping Harden for fellow All-Star G Darius Garland, per Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
- The situation comes as a surprise to most of the basketball world, as the Clippers had won 16 of their last 20 games after a rough start to the season.

2) Lindsey Vonn tore her ACL—but is still skiing in the Olympics
This morning, the 41-year-old American ski racing legend said her plan to compete in the Olympics after a five-year retirement is still on track, despite suffering a crash on Friday that ruptured her right ACL.
- Vonn said her main goal is to compete in the Olympic downhill event, after which she’ll make a decision on participating in the team combined and super-G.
- She’s currently leading the World Cup downhill standings, making her a top gold medal contender at this month’s Milano Cortina Winter Games if she’s at close to full strength.
Vonn’s comeback won’t be denied
3) Mariners trade for Cardinals’ All-Star infielder
Seattle acquired All-Star utility player Brendan Donovan from St. Louis in a three-team trade with Tampa Bay yesterday, adding the former Gold Glover to one of the AL’s top rosters.
- In exchange, the Cardinals acquired a combined three prospects and two draft picks from the other two teams, while the Rays received 3B Ben Williamson from the Mariners.
- The trade comes just over a week before the first pitchers and catchers are due to report for Spring Training (starting February 10).

4) Nick Saban is in his NHL era
The legendary CFB coach will assist in the Nashville Predators’ search for a new GM after Barry Trotz retired from the role on Monday, according to the team’s managing owner Bill Haslam.
- Saban became a Nashville Predators minority owner last December after purchasing a stake in the franchise, and says he wants to impart some of his process into the organization.
- He’ll be part of the committee looking for a GM to turn around the Predators, who haven’t won a playoff series in eight years.
Does Saban still have his slapshot?
5) Bryson DeChambeau isn’t a fan of LIV’s switch to 72 holes
The biggest star playing in LIV Golf has a bone to pick with the Saudi-backed league’s move from 54-hole tournaments to 72 holes, as the 2026 season tees off this week.
- In a new interview, DeChambeau said he feels as though LIV—the Roman numerals for 54—is straying away from its original concept.
- “Hopefully it weighs positively on me over the course of time, but you never know. I’m not sure. We didn’t sign up to play for 72,” said DeChambeau, whose contract with LIV ends after this season.
