1) MLB returns to cornfields for Field of Dreams game
Major League Baseball is back in Dyersville, Iowa, tonight for the third edition of the Field of Dreams Game.
- The Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins face off at 6:30 PM CT, with the game streaming exclusively on Netflix—in a broadcast featuring Kevin Costner—and 25+ Hall of Famers in town for the festivities.
- Unlike the temporary parks of years past, this year’s game will be played in a permanent $80M facility that will host a collegiate summer team starting next year.

2) NFL preseason action continues with 6 games tonight
Week 2 of the NFL preseason kicks off at 6 pm CT tonight, with 6 games on the schedule: Lions-Bengals, Packers-Steelers, Colts-Patriots, Chargers-Texans, Cardinals-Raiders, and Titans-49ers.
- Several teams are expected to roll out their starters tonight for at least for a drive or two.
- They include Titans QB Cam Ward and Packers QB Jordan Love, along with Bengals QB Joe Burrow and star WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
- It’ll also be the first NFL meeting of Raiders QB Fernando Mendoza and Cardinals QB Carson Beck, who faced off in last year's CFP National Championship game.

3) Russell Westbrook retires from NBA
The longtime NBA point guard announced his retirement yesterday after 18 seasons, ending a career that saw him earn 9 All-Star nods, 3 assist titles, 2 scoring titles, and the 2016-17 NBA MVP.
- Westbrook exits the league as its all-time leader in triple-doubles, with 209, breaking a record that had been held by Oscar Robertson since the 1960s.
- He also won an Olympic gold medal in the 2012 London Games, and is the only NBA player to average a triple-double for an entire season more than once (doing it 4 times).
4) Nationals have MLB’s best offense—and its all-time youngest
Washington’s high-powered offense is currently leading the MLB in several major categories, including scoring (5.4 runs/game), HRs (176), OPS (.769), and stolen bases (133).
It’s also trending toward being a baseball first:
- The Nationals haven’t had a position player above the age of 28 appear in any game this season, with the only blemish at the plate being a single at-bat by P Miles Mikolas (age 37).
- No MLB team has ever gone a full season without having a player in his 30s step to the plate.
