1) It’s not just NCAA: Federal judge allows Little Leaguer to play
Little League World Series drama came early this year, after a team from Tulsa, OK, was disqualified by officials due to an ineligible player yesterday afternoon—only to be reinstated by a Texas judge hours later.
- Little League didn’t say what the unnamed player did wrong, but cited a rule that states each kid has to live or attend school inside their league's boundaries.
- However, a district judge quickly granted a temporary restraining order sought by Tulsa, allowing them to play in tonight’s regional final (with a LLWS berth on the line).
- But in the latest update, Tulsa’s would-be opponent reportedly won’t play in tonight’s game, and is instead preparing for next week’s LLWS with legal backing from league officials.
2) DT Quinnen Williams gets massive bag from Dallas
The Cowboys locked in their anchor yesterday, signing 4-time Pro Bowl DT Quinnen Williams to a 3-yr, $105.9M extension that makes him the second-highest-paid DT in the league on an annual basis ($35.3M/yr).
- The deal includes $63.35M fully guaranteed at signing, an NFL record for defensive tackles.
- Williams, a mid-season trade acquisition from the Jets, will remain paired with DT Kenny Clark as they work to fix a Cowboys defense that gave up 30.1 PPG last year.
- In other NFL news: Commanders LT Laremy Tunsil had surgery on a torn triceps and will miss most or all of the regular season, while Lions’ newly signed C Cade Mays is out 8-10 weeks with a fractured wrist.

3) NBA champ Knicks to face LeBron, 76ers in season opener
The NY Knicks will raise their 2025-26 championship banner ahead of LeBron James’ debut with the Philadelphia 76ers on the NBA’s opening night (Oct. 20), the league announced today.
- It’s the middle of a season-opening tripleheader, with the Celtics-Pistons tipping off in the afternoon, and the Spurs-Thunder playing in the nightcap.
- The NBA also announced a pair of opening week doubleheaders, along with the Christmas Day slate of 5 back-to-back games (featuring LeBron for a 20th straight year).
- The full regular-season schedule will be released Thursday.

4) A’s SS Wilson sets all-time MLB streak without an error
Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson completed his 111th straight error-free game in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Red Sox, extending a streak that dates back to early July 2025.
- It represents a new MLB record for consecutive games played at shortstop without an error, surpassing Mike Bordick’s 2002 mark with the Orioles.
- But Wilson has a ways to go before sniffing the overall MLB record of 440 straight errorless games, set by OF Robbie Grossman with the Twins, A’s, and Tigers from 2018-22.
