🌀 Minor League Déjà Vu: Identical Plays, Same Inning, Same Count

In a wild Double-A matchup between the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox affiliate) and the Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies affiliate), baseball’s version of a glitch in the matrix unfolded live.

During the top of the 4th inning, Portland’s Abraham Liendo hit what looked like a routine grounder to third — until it ricocheted off the fielder to the shortstop, who threw him out at first.

Then, in the bottom half of the inning — with the exact same count (0-1), same number of outs (one), and same pitch speed (83 MPH) — Hartford’s Dyan Jorge hit a near carbon-copy grounder that ricocheted off Portland’s third baseman to the shortstop... who again threw out the runner.

Two plays. Same inning. Same sequence. Same weirdness.

Welcome to the matrix.

In a Double-A game featuring the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox) and Hartford Yard Goats (Colorado Rockies) something very rare happened, the same exact sequence of events during a singular inning. In the top of the 4th inning with one out, Portland’s Abraham Liendo hits what would normally be a routine grounder to the third baseman only for it to ricochet off the fielder to the shortstop who guns down the runner for out number two. Subsequently, in the bottom half of the inning with the EXACT same count, number of outs, pitch speed, and the uncanny statures of both pitchers and hitters Hartford’s Dyan Jorge hits a routine grounder to Portland’s third baseman that ricochets off to the shortstop who throws out Jorge at first. This feat is remarkable at so many levels and is definitely a rare sight to see. #minorleaguebaseball #baseballlife⚾️ #baseballhighlights #sportshighlights #baseballnews #rockiesfans #redsoxfan
