1) Letās Ryde
The 45th Ryder Cup between the US and Europeātaking place in New York for just the second time in almost a centuryātees off tomorrow. Over the next three days, the 12 golfers on both teams will face off across five match-play sessions, with Sunday culminating in a dozen one-on-one singles matches. The US team is captained by Keegan Bradley, the youngest golfer to hold the position since Arnold Palmer, and headlined by the worldās top player, Scottie Scheffler. The reigning champion European squad is led by captain Luke Donald and headlined by world #2 Rory McIlroy.
2) Cal Raleigh joins the 60 home run club
The Seattle Mariner affectionately known as Big Dumper entered the history books last night by launching his 59th and 60th home runs, becoming the first catcher and seventh player ever to reach that total. And if thatās not enough reason to celebrate: Raleighās record also came in a 9-2 win that clinched the Marinersā first AL West title in 24 years. Elsewhere, the Cleveland Guardians became the first major league team to overcome a deficit of 15.5+ games and take the lead in either division or league play after beating the Tigers last night.
3) Robert Kraft to sell Patriots minority stake in near-record deal
The New England Patriots owner confirmed a new agreement to sell 8% of the team to two groups (including a private-equity firm) at a $9B valuation, per multiple reports. That figure would represent the highest NFL team valuation in historyābut the deal still needs to be approved by the leagueās finance committee, which is already poised to approve a 10% sale of the New York Giants at a $10.3B valuation. The current NFL valuation record was set earlier this week, when the Chicago Bears received approval to sell a 2.35% minority stake at a $8.9B valuation.

4) UEFA reportedly aims to suspend Israelās soccer teams
The European soccer body UEFA is moving towards a vote next week to suspend member federation Israelās national teams over the war in Gaza, with a majority of UEFA ās executive committee in support of the ban, according to multiple reports. If enacted, such a move would prevent Israel from playing in the World Cup, as well as other international tournaments. The Trump administration yesterday said the USāa co-host of the 2026 World Cup alongside Mexico and Canadaāwill work to ensure that Israel isnāt banned from the World Cup.
5) CFP expansion appears off the table for 2026
The FBS conference commissioners and Notre Dameās AD convened for a four-hour meeting on Wednesday, in which they briefly discussed future plans to expand the College Football Playoff beyond its current 12 teams but failed to reach any consensus. Following the meeting, CFP executive director Rich Clark said the eventās management committee is ācomfortableā with staying at 12 teams for at least the next two years. CFP executives have a contractual deadline of Dec. 1 to let ESPN know if they want to expand the 2026 tournament beyond 12 teams, a move analysts say appears increasingly unlikely.
