NFL training camp season is officially underway, with rookies from 26 teams reporting this week and a record-tying 10 franchises breaking in new head coaches.
The new-coach carousel includes John Harbaugh (Giants), Kevin Stefanski (Falcons), Mike McCarthy (Steelers), Robert Saleh (Titans), and Joe Brady (Bills).

Patrick Kane, 37, signed a 2-year, $8M deal with the Blackhawks this morning, returning to the franchise where he spent his first 16 seasons and won 3 Stanley Cups after being drafted #1 overall.
- Kane, who racked up 16 goals and 57 points in 67 games for Detroit last season, reportedly chose to join Chicago over his hometown Buffalo Sabres.
- He’s currently 4th among active NHL players with 1,400 points, and 6th with 508 goals.
- Kane will join Chicago star Connor Bedard, 21, who was drafted first overall by the Blackhawks a few months after they traded Kane to the Rangers in 2023.

Boston's magical run ended last night with a 5-1 loss to the Orioles in game two of a doubleheader (after taking the opener 6-3), stopping the Red Sox’ streak at 15 games.
- Baltimore's Kyle Bradish played spoiler in his first start since signing a 5-yr, $90M extension, handing Boston their 1st loss since July 1.
- With the earlier win, Red Sox manager Chad Tracy became the 1st interim manager since the 1800s to lead a 15+ game win streak.

4) WNBA’s Indiana Fever light up the nets
Indiana (17-10) set a franchise scoring record in last night’s 123-88 win over the Connecticut Sun, as G Caitlin Clark dropped 27 pts and picked up a technical foul (now 1 away from suspension).
- It's the Eastern Conference-leading Fever’s 11th game of 100+ points this season, tying the all-time WNBA record with 17 games still left to play.
- The Fever are the biggest example of a scoring boom across the league, with teams averaging 86.8 points/game—3.5+ more than any other season in history.
