1) Four ejected after major Pistons-Hornets brawl
The fight broke out in Q3 of last night’s game in Charlotte, when Detroit's Jalen Duren was fouled by the Hornets’ Moussa Diabate, then pushed Diabate in the face with his open hand following a face-to-face confrontation.
- The incident started a brawl that lasted 40+ seconds and featured several players throwing punches, with a brief police presence required to restore order on the court. (Video)
- Duren and Diabate were both ejected alongside Hornets F Miles Bridges and Pistons C Isaiah Stewart.
- The Pistons eventually won the game 110-104, extending their lead atop the Eastern Conference.

2) Las Vegas Raiders name Klint Kubiak as new head coach
Kubiak, 38, the son of Super Bowl-winning head coach Gary Kubiak, was announced as Raiders head coach less than 24 hours after he won Super Bowl LX as the Seahawks’ OC.
- He’ll be tasked with turning around a Vegas squad that holds the #1 overall pick and ~$91M in cap space after finishing an NFL-worst 3-14 last season.
- Kubiak is the third coach in three seasons for the Raiders, and their fifth full-time leader since moving to Las Vegas in 2020.

3) Sports ticket prices are way outpacing inflation
Ticket prices have risen significantly over the past decade at a rate that outpaced inflation by 100+% for the more major sports, according to data from ticketing platform Gametime shared with Axios.
- From 2015 to 2025, average NFL ticket prices sold on Gametime nearly tripledafter accounting for inflation (+173%).
- Higher average prices were seen across many other major sports, including college football (+119%), MLB (+111%), NBA (+70%), NHL (+65%) and MLS (+22%).

4) Olympic medals keep breaking
Several Olympic athletes have said their medals have detached from their ribbons—often while jumping in celebration—with the falling medals sometimes cracking, snapping off pieces, or even breaking in half.
- Olympic officials say the culprit is a choking-prevention mechanism designed to release the medals’ cords automatically if pulled with force, per a statement this morning.
- A “targeted fix” has been put in place for all new medals, while athletes whose medals have been affected are encouraged to return them for repair.

5) #1 Arizona handed their first loss of the season
#9 Kansas beat #1 Arizona 82-78 last night, despite the Jayhawks playing without freshman superstar Darryn Peterson, the projected #1 pick in this year’s NBA draft, who missed the game due to illness.
- Kansas became the first team in the past 30 seasons to beat a #1-ranked opponent despite not having a 20-point-per-game scorer in the lineup, according to ESPN.
- #23 Miami (Ohio) is now the last undefeated men's CBB team in the nation, and is looking to be the first team without a regular-season loss since Gonzaga in 2020-21.
