Good afternoon. Welcome back to another week of top sports stories and interesting links. Letâs jump right in.
1) The World Series matchup is set
The Toronto Blue Jays punched their ticket to the World Series for the first time since 1993, following a dramatic 4-3 win in GameâŻ7 of the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners.
- A threeârun homer by George Springer in the 7th inningâwhich tied him for third all-time in career postseason homersâwas the deciding factor in ending Torontoâs 32âyear Fall Classic drought.
- Meanwhile, the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers wrapped up their NLCS in four games and now face Toronto in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday.
2) NBA regular season tips off tonight
The 2025â26 NBA season tips off tonight with a blockbuster doubleâheader: the defending champion OKC Thunder take on the Houston Rockets, while the Golden State Warriors face the LAâŻLakers. Both matchups are layered with star power and storylines:

New York, Boston, Los Angeles, and San Francisco will be the first four cities to host teams in the brand-new Womenâs Pro Baseball League (WPBL), officials told The Athletic. The upstart league was co-founded by Justine Siegal, the first woman to coach for an MLB team back in 2015.
- The WPBL is debuting next year with four teams, whoâll each fill out their 15 roster spots at an online draft next month.
- The league previously held a 600+-player tryout in August featuring some of the sport's biggest stars.
- Itâs the first pro womenâs baseball circuit since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League folded in 1954.
4) Legendary Eagles DE is coming out of retirement
Veteran DE Brandon Graham has officially signed a deal to rejoin the Philadelphia Eagles, reopening his storied 15âyear career after previously announcing his retirement in March.
- Graham, 37, holds the Eaglesâ all-time record for most regularâseason games (206), ranks third in franchise history with 76.5 career sacks, and won two Super Bowls with the team.
- His return comes amid a rash of injuries and a surprise retirement among Eagles edge rushers, with Graham set to suit up as early as this weekend.
