2) Hornets trade Lamelo Ball to Timberwolves

The Charlotte Hornets reportedly agreed to trade star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid and a series of draft picks.

  • As part of the deal, the Hornets receive an unprotected 2033 first-round pick, 3 first-round pick swaps, and 3 second-round picks.
  • The Timberwolves’ decision to acquire Ball comes days after they reportedly traded All-Star F Julius Randle to the Brooklyn Nets in a salary dump.
  • Charlotte’s move follows a season where the Hornets fell 1 play-in win short of making the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

3) Lions CB Arnold faces potential life in prison

Detroit Lions CB Terrion Arnold was arrested last night on 8 felony counts in connection with an alleged kidnapping and robbery in Tampa, FL, in February.

  • Arnold, a 1st-round selection in 2024, faces up to life in prison if convicted, though his agent says he “categorically denies” the charges.
  • Police accused the 23-year-old of being the “primary conspirator” in the kidnapping of three people who Arnold believed had robbed him and others of $250K+.
  • Six other people were previously arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping.

4) MLB’s 300 HR club is growing

LA Dodgers OF Mookie Betts hit his 300th career HR yesterday, becoming the 17th active MLB player to reach that milestone.

  • Betts, who already sports a Hall-of-Fame caliber resume, is also the 30th player to hit 300 home runs, 400 doubles, and steal 150 bases in their career.
  • His milestone came in a win for superstar teammate Shohei Ohtani, who improved his record to 8-2 with a 1.58 ERA—and also sits just 3 HRs shy of joining the 300 club.
